Melden & Hunt, Inc. was engaged by North Alamo Water Supply Corporation (NAWSC) to provide engineering services for the purpose of expanding the Corporation's main water treatment plant (Plant #5). A review of all existing processing units was performed as part of the preliminary engineering services offered by Melden & Hunt, Inc. The review led to our petitioning of the TNRCC for an additional 800,000 gallons of capacity based upon process computations. The approval of the petition by the TNRCC resulted in a significant expansion with no capital expenditure. Melden & Hunt, Inc. completed its assignment by providing plans, specifications, and contract administration on a 4.8 MGD expansion to Plant #5 to bring it to its present capacity of 9.6 MGD. Construction on the project has recently been completed, and the facility is producing a finished water having a turbidity well below 0.1 ntus.
