Melden & Hunt, Inc. was contracted to plan, design, and construct a wastewater treatment plant to serve the residents of La Sara. The project consisted of three (3) wastewater treatment ponds: (a) a facultative pond; (b) a high rate pond; and (c) settling/stabilizing pond. The ponds were lined and included concrete wave protection.
The design of this plant was based upon work done by Dr. Oswald at the University of California Berkley. The pond type plant is capable of meeting an effluent parameter of 20 mg/l BOD5 and 20 mg/l TSS. This is not usually possible in a pond type system.
Melden & Hunt, Inc. also planned, designed, and constructed a wastewater collection system to serve the residents of La Sara. The project consisted of 25,040 feet of wastewater gravity collection pipelines within the community; 5,850 feet of gravity interceptor pipeline; and 5,135 feet of pressure sewer.
